On the first Friday in May of each year the Afro-American Historical Association sponsors a “Family History Dinner” as part of its annual business meeting.  The dinner features a community member who has done genealogical research or has researched and written about a local history topic.  That person is given an audience to which the fruits of their work can be presented.  The year’s winner of the Association’s “Carter Woodson Local History Essay Contest” is also featured on the program.  The following are previous “Family History Dinner” presenters.
